Potential hazards in the use of LNG tanks

The potential hazards of LNG tanks operation are mainly due to its physical properties.

1. LNG has an extremely low temperature of -162℃ under standard conditions;

2. with a large gas-liquid volume ratio, such as improper pressure reduction measures, will lead to a rapid rise in pressure. The gas-liquid volume ratio of LNG is approximately 625:1.

3. Natural gas is inflammable gas (ignition point 650°C) and asphyxiating gas;

4. Explosion may occur in a confined space (flammability limit in air is 5 ~ 15%).

Safety tips when using your LNG tank trailer

1. Keep LNG equipment away from flame or electric spark;

2. No fireworks are allowed in the area where LNG equipment is repaired, loaded and stored;

3. Wear goggles, face cover and insulating gloves when working on equipment filled with LNG;

4. Empty, relieve pressure and replace LNG tanks during disassembly and maintenance;

5. All personnel entering LNG storage tank shall wear work clothes and work shoes that can prevent fire and static;

6. Operators shall be trained to take up their posts;

7. When the storage tank is not in use, the operator should close all the valves;

8. The outlet of the relief valve shall be connected to the safe external discharge system.

How to Maintenance LNG tank trailer

A portable methane detector can be used to inspect the gas leak points in the truck's gas system (it should be used correctly according to the detector manufacturer's instructions). To ensure the normal operation of the truck, the system should be regularly detected leakage, if found leakage points should be immediately repaired. In some special conditions when it is difficult to accurately determine the leakage point with the detector, the leakage point can be checked with the help of soap solution.

2. Close the tank gas phase valve and outlet valve.
